Transfer 101

Welcome to Transfer Central

Bridgewater State University is an institution that values transfer students.

Transferring to Bridgewater does not have to be complex if you understand the process and know there is someone here to help you.

Whether you plan to take day or evening courses or a combination of both, full-time or part-time, the process has been streamlined for your convenience. Depending on the number of credits you are transferring, it can be as simple as submitting a transfer application online and a transcript from each institution you have attended. Follow the steps outlined in the Transfer Applicant Checklist.

The Transfer Center will provide you with the information you need to get started, and ease the frustration of transferring, as well as provide you with general advising pre- and post-transfer. The center wants to help you avoid making mistakes such as repeating courses, wasting time and money, while clearing up any myths and answering any questions you have.

Working in collaboration with the Office of Admissions, the center also works with other institutions to oversee course-to-course equivalencies to maintain a vibrant database called B.E.A.R.S. (Bridgewater Equivalent Articulation Reporting System). Students can see which courses have direct equivalents and which ones need department approval. Our B.E.A.R.S. database contains in excess of 58,000 courses from more than 1,200 institutions.

Remember, no transfer student has to go through the process alone. Contact the Transfer Center at Bridgewater for assistance. We care about your success and we are excited about your decision to transfer and continue your education with us.

Join us on Transfer Tuesdays!

Transfer Tuesdays—on October 23, November 6, November 20 and December 4—are special admission days dedicated to transfer applicants who are interested in attending Bridgewater State as a day student. If you are planning on applying to BSU, these days are for you!  The process is simple:

  1. Apply online
  2. Request an official transcript from each college/university you have attended and have it sent to the Undergraduate Office of Admissions or bring it with you in a signed sealed envelope.
  3. Visit the Transfer Center, located in the Welcome Center at 45 Plymouth Street, Bridgewater, Mass., between the hours of 9:30 am and 4 pm on one of the designated days.
  4. Admission and transfer counselors will be available to review all of your application materials and answer any questions you may have pertaining to the admission process or academic programs.
  5. Receive a decision and credit evaluation on-site if your application is complete. [Please note, in order to receive a decision on the day of your visit, you must have all official transcripts in your possession or sent to the office in advance.]
  6. Speak to a Financial Aid representative.

Optional campus tours will be available at 11 am and 3 pm
