Student Retention Enhancement Across Mathematics and Science

Summer Program

A three week, residential immersion in research and college life, tailored to just the right level for incoming freshmen science and math majors. Are you ready?

One of the highlights of the STREAMS grant is the STREAMS Summer Program for incoming freshmen math or science majors. The Summer Program is very unique in that it allows incoming freshmen to do advanced research alongside a faculty mentor and a senior undergraduate. The summer program lasts for three weeks and is residential.

Is this program for you?

Summer Program participants get to experience every aspect of college life. You get to experience the rigor of college level courses, and learn the type of work that is expected of you, before you even start school. You will conduct research in a real lab using the most modern equipment and techniques. Also, you will meet, and get to know, fifteen other incoming freshmen in your concentration. This means when you get onto campus in the fall, there will already be a handful of faces that are familiar to you, and you may even know some of your professors. You will live on campus, complete 6 college credits, and even get paid to participate.

So, if you are really interested in knowing what college life will be as science or math major, then yes the STREAMS Summer Program is for you.

Potential applicants are encouraged to review the 2014 Summer Bridge Flyer and apply. Also, please check out the testimonials and contact Dr. Stephen Waratuke for more information.
