Orff Schulwerk Music Workshop
Bridgewater State University will offer a ten day Orff Schulwerk Workshop for three graduate credits.
The course follows guidelines established by AOSA (American Orff Schulwerk Association). The workshop will be held on the campus of Bridgewater State University from July 10, 2017 - July 21, 2017. The costs for this two week professional development series breaks down as follows: $1,410 for three graduate credits or $705 for non-credit.
LEARN to use and understand the Orff Schulwerk approach. Discover Orff as a process of experiencing exploration, imitation, improvisation, and creation, through movement, speech and music. You don't need a classroom full of Orff instruments to be an Orff-inspired teacher.
EXPERIENCE new activities and ideas to use with your own elementary and/or middle school students.
SHARE ideas that work in the classroom with other experienced teachers and with trained Orff instructors.
UPDATE your knowledge of current music education issues with special topics related to classroom teaching.
ACQUIRE new materials and equipment that will be available through West Music, Coralville, Iowa.
Course Offering
MUSC 558: Orff Schulwerk Teacher Training: Level I (3 credits)
This is a two-week intensive workshop for graduates introducing basic principles and practices of the Orff Schulwerk approach to teaching music. This course incorporates interactive participation in music and movement and develops and applies basic skills in movement, speech, singing and playing instruments. The course follows the guidelines established by American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA) for Level I certification.
