Observatory

Outreach Program

The BSU Observatory is dedicated to educating and sparking an interest in science, particularly astronomy, in the regional community.

The Observatory hosts an active outreach program that welcomes members of the community, including but not limited to neighborhood organizations, scout troops, and K-12 classes. We hold up to four events per week at night in order to:

  • Promote astronomy education, particularly for K-12 students.
  • Increase astronomy awareness and interest in the region.
  • Give our students the opportunity for service-learning in astronomy and education.
  • Provide an astronomy resource for pre-service and in-service teachers.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the observatory is not currently scheduling events.  When we are able to resume scheduling, we will post details here.
